Our friend was *amazed* at Mel's memory, and I said, "I bet a lot of that is his friend Harry's influence." Oh, and a side note to Harry: we met with a good friend a couple of days ago who had JUST gone to see a special presentation at the local theater, where they showed "Blazing Saddles" and Mel Brooks came out afterwards to banter with the audience and answer questions. Thank you all for your input! Before my friend left town, I switched out "The Memory Book" for "Super Memory - Super Student," as it seemed to be the one with the most content related to foreign language (the intended reader's greatest problem area).
So, my question to everyone is: if you could only choose one of Harry's memory books to give to people, presuming it's the only book on memory they'll ever need to read and use, which one would it be? I only know which one worked its magic on ME, and I can't duplicate that joy of discovery when reading other books that cover the same material in different ways. Having read them all, I don't entirely trust my perspective on which is best. Just last night, when discussing memory with an old college friend who's passing through town and whose son is having difficulty memorizing material in his foreign language, music, and theater classes, I gave her one of my "Memory Book" copies.but then I thought, "Wait a minute, would I have been better off giving her my copy of "Super Memory, Super Student," or the "Page-a-Minute" book, or.? HOWEVER.just because it's the one I started with doesn't mean it's the best choice. It's the one I continue to use to this day, and recommend most strongly, to students when I teach magic & memory classes. I learned the Link and Peg system, back in the early 80s, with THE MEMORY BOOK.
